Legal Governance

We will ensure our Government enacts laws, regulations and policies which are not in breach of both domestic and international law.

Our immigration policies must comply with international human rights standards and our own Charter of Rights and Freedoms. We will not allow policies that violate the dignity and rights of any person.

We will review and amend the Federal and Provincial labour laws to ensure companies are not using loopholes to break the spirit of the laws in order to reduce pay for Canadian workers. We will add provisions within the Laws to ensure employers are appropriately penalized for infractions.

We will review and amend the Group Retirement Saving Act to ensure employers are not circumventing the spirit of the law at the detriments to employees.

We will ensure the Senate is doing its job to provide independent legal oversight in reviewing proposed legislation and ensuring it meets our domestic and international legal obligations.

Any government policy found to be in violation of domestic or international law will be immediately reviewed and amended to ensure full compliance.

Canada must be a nation that leads by example in respecting the rule of law, both within our borders and in our international dealings.
